Since 2002, all fridges, freezers and air-conditioning units have been reclassified under EU guidelines which label the CFC gases contained by such goods as hazardous waste. As well as banning the use of ozone-depleting substances in manufacturing items including fridges, the regulations also demanded that controlled substances should be recovered from such equipment prior to disposal so as to prevent their release into the atmosphere.

Reclamet takes special care in reclaiming the recyclable materials from these goods. We even give them a wash to cleanse away any remaining pollutants.

Reclamet is a fully compliant operator and authorised by the Environment Agency under license number EAWML10055 for the pre destruction treatment and storage of waste refrigeration equipment.

Reclamet offers a collection service for the scrapping of both domestic and commercial refrigeration equipment in accordance with the legislation and guidelines of the Environment Agency.
