HOW DO WE FIND THE RIGHT ENGINE?
Finding a suitable replacement engine starts with identifying the exact vehicle and engine fitted. Make, model and year are useful, but different engine variants can be fitted to apparently similar vehicles.
Your vehicle registration gives our Parts Team a useful starting point for checking the vehicle details and searching the engines we currently have available.
If further information is required, we may ask for:

• Current engine size or specification
• A photograph of the engine or identification markings
• Part or reference numbers where available
This helps us narrow down the available engines and identify a suitable replacement for your vehicle.
QUALITY RECYCLED CAR & VAN ENGINES
Buying a used engine is different from buying many other recycled vehicle parts. Its condition, mileage and the vehicle it came from can all be important when considering a replacement.
Reclamet recovers reusable engines from vehicles dismantled at our vehicle recycling facility. Rather than purchasing unknown loose engines for resale, our engines originate from donor vehicles processed through our own vehicle recycling operation.
Where available, information from the donor vehicle can help our Parts Team provide useful details about an engine before it is sold.
HOW ARE OUR USED ENGINES GRADED?
Engines recovered for reuse are assessed and graded in accordance with the VRAC recycled parts grading standards. This provides a consistent way of recording the condition and relevant information about a recycled engine before it is offered for sale.
The grading process considers information from the donor vehicle and the engine itself, helping our Parts Team provide customers with clearer information about the component they are purchasing.
As a VRAC Certified Vehicle Recycler, Reclamet follows recognised standards for the recovery, assessment and grading of reusable vehicle parts.

WHERE DO OUR USED ENGINES COME FROM?
Reclamet’s used engines are recovered from donor vehicles processed through our vehicle recycling facility in Kent.
Before dismantling, vehicles are assessed to identify components suitable for reuse. Engines selected for recovery can be checked while they are still installed in the vehicle, before being removed as part of the dismantling process and graded for resale.
Reusing an original OEM engine extends the useful life of an existing vehicle component and reduces the need for a serviceable engine to enter the recycling process as raw material.
USED ENGINE COLLECTION & UK DELIVERY
Used engines can be collected directly from Reclamet in Kent or arranged for delivery to customers across the UK.
Because engines are large and heavy components, delivery arrangements and costs can vary. Our Parts Team can confirm the available collection or delivery options when providing details of the engine.
DO RECLAMET BUY USED ENGINES?
Reclamet does not normally purchase loose used engines for resale. Without the donor vehicle, we cannot assess and grade an engine through the same process we use for engines recovered from vehicles dismantled at our facility.
If the engine is still fitted to the vehicle, we’d be interested in the vehicle itself. A complete vehicle with a good, reusable engine may be worth more to us than its basic scrap value because the engine and other components can potentially be recovered for reuse. You can submit the vehicle through our Sell My Car service for a valuation.
Loose engines may still have a recycling value depending on their material content. If you have an unwanted engine for recycling, contact our Scrap Metal team to discuss the current options.

Your vehicle registration, make and model provide a useful starting point. Depending on the vehicle, we may also ask for the engine code, specification, part or reference numbers, or photographs to help identify a suitable replacement.
Are your used engines tested?
Engines selected for reuse can be tested while still installed in the donor vehicle before removal. Recovered engines are then assessed and graded in accordance with VRAC recycled parts grading standards.
