Scrap Kings is the UK’s flagship TV show for all things scrap. It is a popular television programme shown on Quest and the Discovery Channel and produced by back2back Production Ltd. It is great how they bring huge interest to the scrap and salvage industry, and there is a huge following out there.
We are, therefore, very proud and privileged to have featured multiple times across several series and have some great memories.
A particular favourite episode of ours was the dismantling of a Nimrod aircraft from nearby Manston Airport. The front portion of the plane was to remain at the airport and form part of the Museum’s displays. Today, you can climb inside and feel what it would be like to be inside the former maritime patrol aircraft.
The detached fuselage had to be scrapped, and upon request, we loaded it onto one of our lorries and transported it to our recycling centre. The episode showed us transporting the fuselage from the airport to our recycling centre, leading a line of traffic on its journey. On arrival, it is weighed in, unstrapped and then, using the Liebherr VRS Powerhand, it is skillfully lifted off and dismantled, firstly with a circular saw to remove non-recyclable parts and then with the Powerhand.
The episode continued with the Liebherr VRS Powerhand making short work of the Nimrod, pulling it apart ready to be placed in the baler.
Thank you to Scrap Kings and Back2Back for the footage. It is great to have this as a memory.
At Reclamet, we are highly skilled in transporting and processing large-scale metal recycling. We will salvage restorable and undamaged parts or those with significant importance.
