What is the vehicle recycling process?

Anti-freeze & washer fluid
Anti-Freeze & Washer Fluids are removed, separated, filtered, re-processed, and bottled for resale.

Batteries
After testing, batteries in good condition are recharged & sold to customers for reuse. Other batteries are sent and rebuilt in a licensed recycling facility.

Body panels
Body Panels (Doors, Hoods, Quarter Panels, etc.) that are in suitable condition are stocked to repair damaged vehicles. Unusable parts are reclaimed as scrap, and the metal is recycled.

Freon and other refrigerants
Licensed technicians carefully remove the gases from air-conditioning systems to ensure they do not escape into the atmosphere. The used refrigerant is sold to a licensed buyer to be recycled.

Fuel
Special dismantling equipment is used to puncture gas tanks, drain and remove.

Mercury switches
For a some time, manufacturers used mercury switches to control convenience lights and ABS systems.
Although mercury switches are no longer installed in new vehicles, thousands of them are still in cars on the road today.

Oils
Oil is drained from all vehicles and sent to recycling facilities to be re-processed and re-used.

Wheels
Wheels are visually inspected & stocked for resale. In some cases, wheels are reconditioned. Wheels damaged beyond repair are reclaimed as scrap metal.
